Rockschool Partners with 3rd Avenue Guitars

Rockschool and 3rd Avenue Guitars join forces to get new players making music

A guitar is only the beginning. Rockschool and 3rd Avenue Guitars have teamed up to give the next generation of musicians the instruments, lessons and interactive tools they need to go from starter to stage diver.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership between Rockschool and 3rd Avenue Guitars, bringing together great starter instruments and more than 30 years of music education expertise.

Selected 3rd Avenue guitar starter packs will now include the new Rockschool 3rd Avenue Guitar Method Book as a free e-book, giving first-time players a clear, practical route from opening the box to playing real music.

Each participating 3rd Avenue starter pack brings together a guitar and the essential accessories needed to start playing, including a Bluetooth amplifier, guitar lead and strap.

Flyers and tags supplied with the guitar feature a QR code that unlocks the Rockschool 3rd Avenue Guitar Method Book and its accompanying digital resources. Players can create a free Rockschool account, access their learning on any device and track their progress as they go.

Created specifically for complete beginners, the course covers everything from the history of the electric guitar and getting to know the instrument to tuning, holding a pick and playing those all-important first notes, riffs and chords.

Step-by-step video lessons guide players through essential techniques, musical notation and TAB, rhythm skills and a range of styles, including pop, rock and metal. By the end of the book, learners will be playing complete pieces alongside professional full-band backing tracks.

The videos feature Rockschool guitar educator Tommy Webb, with an introduction and instrument history from RSL Group Director Nathan Theodoulou, combining expert guidance with the energy and encouragement new players need to keep progressing.

Learning powered by RiFF

The experience is powered by RiFF, Rockschool’s interactive sheet music player. RiFF puts the learner in control. Players can slow music down while learning a difficult section, speed it back up as their confidence grows and loop individual passages until they’ve nailed them.

Synced audio, notation, TAB and an interactive light-up fretboard provide extra support, helping players understand what to play, where to play it and how it should sound. It’s a smarter, more engaging way to practise and a far cry from putting a traditional method book on a music stand without any guidance and hoping for the best.
